Crelem Bakeries encountered significant challenges in their audit process
- Excel Limitations: The volume of data exported from SAP made working in Excel unsustainable. When attempting to combine large datasets, such as monthly product and recipe data, the system would crash.
- Manual Traceability: During audits, traceability exercises often required hours of manual work to compile the necessary data. This slowed down audits and placed a heavy burden on their teams.
- Margin for Errors: Due to the complexity of the recipes and manual processing, errors sometimes occurred in the traceability, posing risks in an industry where food safety is paramount.
Solutions
in2Facts' innovative Reporting-as-a-Service solution for Crelem Bakeries
We implemented a custom data product - based on Power BI - and integrated with Crelem Bakeries’ SAP system through the in2Facts Reporting as a Service portal, eliminating the need for additional software licenses or third parties. The key steps included:
Data Integration: the first challenge was integrating data from various systems like SAP and Excel. We utilized Microsoft Azure tools, such as Azure Data Factory (ADF) and SQL databases, to create connections between the systems, allowing for automatic data updates. This eliminated the need for manual exports and reduced the likelihood of errors.
Automation of Reporting: the new solution through the in2Facts portal enabled complete automation of traceability exercises. Instead of spending hours manually combining data, reports can now be generated in minutes, saving the team time and increasing audit accuracy.
Comprehensive Support: in2Facts took over the entire process, ensuring that Crelem Bakeries was relieved of any burdens associated with data management and reporting, allowing them to focus on their core business.
No Dependency on Third Parties: thanks to the unique Reporting-as-a-Service model, Crelem Bakeries did not need to purchase or integrate external software. Everything was provided within the in2Facts ecosystem, resulting in no additional licenses besides the subscription service.
